Today, I am holding tightly to Your promises, Lord. I am clinging to Your truths. Not what the world tells me. Not what my friends tell me. Not what I tell myself. But Your truths, Lord.
When I have had a rough day. When my kids are throwing tantrums. When I have to drag seven children to the grocery store. When my teen is ignoring me. When my husband is working long hours and I am so, so exhausted, it is easy to forget how much I am loved by my Father. My father who understands, who cares, who wants to comfort me like no-one else can. My good Father, who encourages me to crawl up in His lap for awhile and find my peace in Him.
I remind myself that I am not exempt from pain just because I am a Christian. Quite the opposite, actually. (John 16:33) Jesus himself warned us that in this world we will have troubles. Not maybe. Not if you’re not following the rules. Not if you’re not a good enough person. No- everyone. You WILL have troubles. It’s pretty clear.
The catch is that we are called to respond in ways other than the world would. We are called to put our faith before our fear. We are called to bear all things. We are called to allow God control in our lives.
When we allow this, we can accept His promises. We can accept His grace, love and mercy. We can allow Him to heal, comfort and restore. He takes the broken things and lets His light shine through the cracks, so brightly, that it’s undeniably Him at work.
So as I’m going through my day and I don’t understand what God’s plan is, I trust. When I feel like my heart is being ripped from my chest, I trust. I hold tightly to His promises. I trust in Him to make all things beautiful in the end. Where it matters. Where He can see and I can’t.
Thy will be done.

Romans 8:28 is one of my favorite; right after 1 Corinthians 13. God’s always at work…even in the midst of crazy…and a house full of kiddos definitely ensures a lot of crazy🙃.

2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” (James 1:2-5)
We are called by God to endure pain, (trials), in order to develop perseverance which leads to maturity in our Christian walk. If we don’t quite understand this, we pray for the wisdom to understand it. This post goes a long way in teaching us exactly what the scriptures say about turning to and trusting God in life’s challenges. Great post!

I am always amazed at those who feel Christianity, or any faith for that matter, is just a “crutch” for weak people to lean on…it is anything but that!
It takes strong will and discipline to stand against the world and go in the opposite direction of others who have no faith!! That’s why we need the full armor of God each day, and His strength and wisdom to stand against the foes…(sorry, I’m preaching a bit…)

Man…you bet the battle is real! That evil one will not go away unless we resist him. And then…he’ll be back again! Gotta stand strong. If we fall, get back up every time and get back in there…
There, end of sermon…Lol!

Great post! 7 kids at the grocery store sounds pretty intense! But you’re so right here that we as parents just have to choose to respond to God in his will and not in our own emotions. Which is so hard for me sometimes when I’m in the situation…thankfully his grace is sufficient! We are definitely called to respond differently the world does! We have to respond to his love and sink into his heart, not ourselves.

Amen! I fail, often by the minute, sometimes drastically, but I give myself the grace that God extends me. I am only human. All I can do is pick myself back up, analyze the situation, make amends (if needed), and continue on. Sometimes when things are particularly difficult, I hear Toby Mac’s song “Move” in my head… “Move, keep walkin’ soldier keep movin’ on
Move, keep walkin’ until the mornin’ comes
Move, keep walkin’ soldier keep movin’ on
And lift your head, it ain’t over yet, ain’t over yet”. 🤣🤣🤣 and think about the day when He says, “well done, my good and faithful servant”. I wish your growing family all the best, Joel! 😍😍😍 (ohhh and the kids were actually amazing at the store today!❤️)

Oh I fall often by the minute too, but the grace we have in Jesus, oh it’s so wonderful isn’t it!?! You’re so right, we just have to choose to come right back to God, step back into grace, and move on. That’s a good song by Toby Mac, love his latest album. It’s a big hit with the kiddos in the car! 🙂 I
Thank you! I wish your family all the best too! Hey that’s awesome to hear! You can’t beat a good grocery store trip! I know my wife always has an extra smile on her face when she has a good grocery store report!!

This phrase is one I have to keep remembering “I am not exempt from pain just because I am a Christian”. So often our thoughts get gummed up because of thinking we don’t feel the hurt put upon us in the world.
